Catherine and Kerry I am sure that you will not mind me adding your
replies here to encourage discussion.
Hi Andy,
At Rangi Ruru we are doing something similar (we will have Science,
Biological and Physical too) - a few of the standards (mostly external)
don't look to be much different, or look to be a combination of a couple
of old externals. so we are doing some of them - although some of the
externals a different enough that I am not confident I will be teaching
the right stuff. It is a bit risky! We will be doing an investigation, a
Geology, and carbon cycling internals. I figure we will go with any
resources they may give us, and make the rest up ourselves - the worst
that can happen is a bad moderators report and we have to rewrite the
scheme - although that would be a big hassle, and if everyone is doing the
same it is a big waste of energy. I just hope they get us any information
they will give us sooner rather than later so we can start planning. This
forum would be a good way of spreading the ideas we have - at least for
the physics standards.

Hi Andy
lucky you! At The Correspondence School (Te Kura) we are already writing
our resources because our materials have to be done by August so that they
can get printed. We are looking at running all the standards so that we
have internals-only courses and traditional phys/chem/bio exam based
courses. for the internals we are hoping to develop some with 'high
support' so that students who are low-achievers can get something. We are
working on materials that are context-led and very relevant.
NZASE is also working on some pre-moderated tasks for 'barely achieved'
students.
warm regards
Kerry
