From the Chair of NZIPESA big thank you to all the teachers and schools who subscribed to our online resource service in 2009. Our organisation is entirely run by teachers for teachers and is non-profit making in every respect. Your school's support ensures that our service can continue. As in 2009 we will be using an online registration process (similar to that used by NZASE). The procedure will be to go to the following website www.nzip.org.nz – click on Education section and from there follow the instructions to complete the online registration process. An invoice will be produced automatically and emailed through to you. Once we have received payment your username and password for 2010 will be emailed to the address you used on your subscription form. NZQA moderation requirements NZQA will be providing the facility for pre-moderation of assessment materials. It is NZIPES's intention to apply to receive a quality assurance certificate for our materials which will ensure that if used in their original format a school will receive a fully compliant moderation report for the assessment materials.
NZ Curriculum We have begun work on updating all our schemes and documentation to reflect the requirements of the new NZ curriculum. These documents will be produced and made available to our online subscribers. This will be of huge benefit to many teachers in relation to having up to date documentation that only requires minimal adjustment to suit their local needs. NZIP-Physikos Conference The biennial NZIP physics teachers' conference – Physikos will be held at Victoria University of Wellington from 17th-19th October 2011. The conference theme will be “Physics in our lives”, with details are available from the conference website http://www.confer.co.nz/nzip2011/index.htm. Registration costs are $395 for full NZIP members. Physikos conferences are always interesting and will provide plenty of exciting new ideas to ensure student engagement. David Housden
